My name is Curtis Allen but I like pseudonyms so I use Curt Kennedy. I am from the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia). More DM, as I haven't spent as much time in Va. Nor have I ever lived there, but it is the way we describe the D.C. metropolitan area. I have always had a affinity with photography from taking Polaroids as a kid to underwater disposal cameras at pools in the summertime. It was just one of those things that was cool to do but not my first, second or third love. I Ieft it as something that wasn't my cup of tea in terms of pursuit, but I always had a respect for the art form.

Fast forward many years later, here I am back at the very act of creativity I left behind. I've realized over the years from my ventures in music, sports, cinema and ministry, that the ability to paint pictures with words, or to tell stories with pictures has always been a part of my life. At one point I had a small music production company called Written Pictures. Pictures do so much more than paint a thousand words. They capture moments in time and to some degree immortalize them. They are our memories when our minds fail us. They offer us beauty, mystery, and sanity. They provoke emotion. They inspire us. We often live vicariously through the images that we see. So, for this reason I am back. Not to try to be the best photographer ever. Not hardly. 

I'm back to offer anyone that I can all of the things I stated above. And if for no other reason at all, then this is just for me. l capture images with what I call Curt Lenses. Which simply means, I invite you to see what I see...

Washington DC is the city that I was born and raised by my entire life. And I took for granted some of the beautiful things about it. I've driven past monuments and Cherry Blossoms without a care in the world. But then I started to take photography seriously and everything around me became photogenic.

Because this is my stomping grounds, there will be multiple pictures taken in and out of museums. I will have multiple shots of DC and do not think it wise to put them all in one section. So this is the first set of DC shots. Look for other shots of DC in another section.

One of the things I have surprisingly come to love is buildings. I love to shoot buildings. Especially with my wide angle 10-20mm lens. Architecture tells its own story and I love that. Pictures in this section will cover that, as well as things that I think demonstrate interesting architecture.

Black and white is some of the most amazing photography simply because the lack of color tells it's own story. Black and White gives every photo a bit of mystery. I hope that my photos convey a story with each one I put up. Here are some of best work in black and white

One of the things I love most about photography is that I can just shoot anything I think is creative. Often, I look for random stuff to shoot just to stay fresh and creative. Being that I am still a little new at photography looking for random things help me identify my style a little bit more. 

While I imagine that I will have a bunch of items that will classify as random these are some of my favorite ones. Again, these are those shoot when you see something that might be interesting shots. Sometimes they're not that interesting but I still like them.

On some level, life is different for everyone. We have different backgrounds. Different cultures. Different experiences, you name it. But there are certain things that bind us together no matter the differences. One of those things is in many ways the main thing. Life. We are all blinded by a sense of purpose and a will to do something, or be something in our lives. These pictures are depictions of life in its various capacities. Some human. Some not.

Night time shooting is probably some of the hardest to do. Unless you have a tripod, but sometimes you are without one. However, you still gotta shoot. These are some of my favorite nighttime flicks.

Traveling is something just about everybody loves to do. I enjoy it as well but its not the end all be all. However, photography makes everything different. Now, places I go look and feel different. I see things I hadn't seen before. Having a camera does that to you. This next year I will be traveling to cities I've never been to before.
